Leaving The Blogosphere!

JK!
OK, OK, enough of the jokes. I am moving from my blog here at Blogger, to a much more polished (and better) blog at Wordpress.com. Now, before I give you the new URL, I have a few things to say.

The reason I am moving is simple. I am joining my family in a boycott of all things Google. Youtube, Blogger, Gmail, Google Talk, and of course, Google Search. Why? Because Google is in support of gay marriage. If you don't believe me click here:

If you would like to join the boycott, click here:

Don't worry, there are plenty of alternatives to Google Services out there, like Yahoo! or Live.

I hope to see you at my new blog:

I hope to see you there!

Backups & Box.Net

Today, I decided to backup the important data on my hard drive. After losing so much data when my second one broke, I figured it might be a good idea to start keeping backups of my data.

Now to make backups, you have to have a place to put backups... I did not really want to trust another old hard drive, or a thumb drive or anything like a CD or DVD that could break. Whats the answer? Online storage space. Now a quick Google search for "Free Online Storage Space" comes up with literally, millions of results. Most of which, aren't even free :-D.

After searching for a while, I found Box.Net. I must say, for free online storage space, this is a pretty nice service. Now since its free, you are most likely assuming it has its limitations. It does. Things like, you can only upload files that are under 10 MB. Or other problems, like the fact that you only have 1 GB of storage.

So anyway, I decided to put the service to the test. First, I zipped all my ZettaGeek.net related files, About 160 MB's in files, into a split zip file, each part of the zip file was 9 MB. Then I uploaded the parts of the Zip file to Box.Net.

It took about 10 minutes to upload everything, but overall I was quite impressed. So now, I just need to figure out what to do with the other 800 MB's.

At The Art Show

This last weekend, I went to an art show with my Sister and Grandmother. My sister, Courtney, wrote a journal for the day and took pictures as well. Enjoy!

"On Friday afternoon, Joshua and I left to spend the night at my Grandmother's, to prepare for an art show the very next day.

We left our home, and ran a few errands to pick up some last minute items, then we went for dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant:

These are some really neat metal statues outside the restaurant:

Here is Joshua standing beside one of them:

A view from my seat:

Their iced tea is the best!!

After a yummy faijita and some awesome corn chips with hot cheese sauce

it was time to go back to the interstate to go on to her home.

We passed the Birmingham International Airport:

Finally, we arrived at her house. After unpacking everything, we went to bed.

But, the morning started early, and we were all up by 4:30.

We loaded back up the car:

And went on our way.

We stopped for a breakfast sandwich:

and headed to Odenville.

We arrived just in time to set up!

Here is Joshua setting up our tent:

The tent all set up:

Once we set everything up, we looked around the park that the art show was at. Here are some various pictures:

This is the first time that I have ever seen a cattail!

What?!?!?

It was soon time for lunch.

Joshua enjoying some bottled water:

Some of our crafts for the show:

Do you remember the quilts? :)

Later on, we just enjoyed the afternoon as people walked through.

Joshua catching a quick read:

At 4:00, it was time to pack up.

Watch this! We can pack it up in 3 easy steps:

1!

2!

3!

See! It was easy! ;)

Time to go home.

We took a slightly different route, and saw many cows:

Back on the interstate:

This is what the sky looked like when we were almost home:

It was a fun day. Thanks for joining me!"

A Question..

Alright, I have a question for you, my readers. As you may already know I have two hard drives in my computer. One is a 30.00 GB hard drive, and the other is a 40 GB. About a month ago I noticed I could not boot to Ubuntu. So I boot to windows, and notice it no longer sees my 40.00 GB hard drive. Whats odd though, is it sees it in the BIOS.

My system specs are:

AMD Sempron 1.6 GHZ
Hard drive (C:) 30.00 GB
Hard drive (D:) 40.00 GB
CD drive (E:)
CD drive (F:)
512 MB Ram
nVidea GeForce 2 TI
Belkin WIRELESS G Internal Internet Card

Any help would be awesome.

What a nice way to end the week. On a side note, I have updated my Blogroll to include the Willi Family Blog, and changed the old link that went to Red Moose 3D and updated it to Matt's new blog Isaiah 40:28-31. Be sure to check them out.

New Firefox Skin

I have decided to skin my web browser Firefox. Now this is the skin for windows. My Firefox on Linux is solid black. Its been like that since I installed Ubuntu Studio.

Here is a picture of my Windows Firefox:

I am really liking the new Firefox 3. Although, I still am having a lot of issues with the amount of RAM this thing uses. As of right now, with only one tab open its using 88 Megs of ram, compared to Internet explorer or Opera which take between 18 and 50 megs of ram.

As other news I have finished another tutorial for my website. It won't be long and I will upload the new website.

Java Programming

Well today I took a giant leap from my normal computer programming. Instead of programming HTML, ASP and Visual Basic, I have decided to start learning more of the advanced programming languages. Three days ago I started PHP, Yesterday I started C/C++, and today I have start Java.

Here is my first Java application:

I have circled two things, the first is where I compiled the program: (javac HelloWorldApp.java), and the second thing I circled is where I ran the program with the Java virtual machine. (java HelloWorldApp).

Now in time, I will learn to do this same thing in Linux, but for now Windows 2000 was my best option. :-)
